ROTTERDAM / ANTWERP, JUNE 8, 2022 – T-Mining and CMA CGM announce today the start of the integration of Secure Container Release in the Port of Antwerp. This innovative tool provides a more secure and safe solution to all employees and clients involved in the container import release process. Replacing the traditional PIN codes with blockchain-enabled tokens will improve safety and security while providing a more streamlined and digitized process.

The CMA CGM Group, a global leader in sea, land, air, and logistics solutions, is committed to digitization to develop smarter and more secure service offerings while delivering a smoother user experience for both customers and employees. The roll-out of T-Mining’s Secure Container Release (SCR) fits the Group’s ambition to find BETTER WAYS for a renewed shipping and logistics offering that adapts constantly to customers’ needs.

T-Mining’s innovative blockchain solution will protect CMA CGM’s clients and employees

Leveraging blockchain technology, T-Mining’s Secure Container Release provides a more secure and digital alternative to the traditional PIN codes used today to release and pick up containers arriving in ports. By doing so, CMA CGM takes advantage of new technologies to create a more secure and safe port community, protecting its clients and employees from malicious interventions in the container release process.

In 2021, CMA CGM participated in a joint pilot of T-Mining’s Secure Container Release solution with a limited number of forwarders and transport companies. Today, the Group will start the implementation of SCR in a phased approach. Clients will be contacted individually and receive an invitation to onboard the new solution. CMA CGM aims to start the onboarding to SCR of its clients in Antwerp as from June 2022.

T-Mining, a blockchain startup based in Antwerp, developed the Secure Container Release application over the last 5 years. Applying decentralized technologies like blockchain, SCR guarantees superior security of the container release process and privacy of data processed. T-Mining supports CMA CGM in the rollout of SCR towards its release parties. Today, SCR connects more than 1.300 companies involved in the import container release process in over 25 countries.

Patrick Kockx, Managing Director CMA CGM Belgium: “We are introducing cutting edge technologies that help us to improve the safety of our workforce and the security of our release process. Both are essential to our business and operations. Innovation is part of our Group’s DNA, and working together with innovative start-ups like T-Mining keeps our organization agile and resilient.”

Nico Wauters, CEO at T-Mining: “From day one, CMA CGM has been a firm believer and supporter of Secure Container Release. Today is another important milestone for T-Mining in scaling our footprint, providing evidence for our value proposition, the scalability of our solution, and the execution power of our team.”
